once you start getting into 7/6/5 second 0-60 times in a FWD it's more a question of traction than anything else. when i went drag racing in the xsara i found that although 195/50s give better acceleration, they are shite for standing starts, wheelspin in first was a lot less controllable. that's before you even get into make and model of tyre, tread patterns and compounds, and suspension as well... i bet preloading the rear suspension against the handbrake can make a small difference to 0-60 times.

An interesting question but I have no idea. Bloke I bought my Mi off apparently replaced the 1.6 box fitted by the bloke before as it was too manic - now has a 1.9 sri 405 box I think (doesn't seem to be the same box as regular 1.9 309 gti to me - or is it?)

I would've thought that an Mi with 1.6 would top out somewhere around the 115-120mph mark, whereas a 1.9 box would be good for over 140. I've seen that spreadsheet before. It's bloody good, we just ned someone to find it now. Wasn't it over on 205GTiDrivers somewhere?
