Oil pump mods

Postby miles1234 » Sat Oct 20, 2012 11:32 am

Are there any mods worth making to my oil pump while i have the engine apart . The new competition spring and plunger to increase the oil presure seem popular , does it increase presure at all revs or just the high range ?Its going to be a road engine , will not see much track use so no need for a baffled sump .

its all revs isn't it? and the pressure increases the same through the revs as before just more of :D

i would have a look at the pickup pipe gauze while you can to make sure its clean and clear, i once found one full of instant gasket from a rebuild... ;) and give the little filter in the head a clean too as a blocked one of them decreases oil pressure

Do you have the part number for the spring , i will get one ordered while i am talking to my not so local dealer on Monday , i am also after some of the OE stickers for the 309 slam panel .
I was just wondering if oil pumps are still producing a decent presure after 100 K miles , i have the thing on a bench so its a good time to do something to it if needed . Looks like just the spring then .

I have found out the part number for the uprated 6 bar oil presure spring - 1157.11 cost £1.51 . The standard 5 bar spring is 1157.13 at 82p . I have ordered 3 but they are not available for a week or so .I have had my oil pump apart and it looks in good order considering its 20 years old .

I have picked up a couple of bits from my Peugeot dealership this morning . Fitted the new uprated spring and put the pump back together .
