Not sure about the distributor but the injectors are different - 1.9 GTI's have a yellow injector .

Still not sure if the dizzy is different but the ignition amplifier is not the same .Best bet would be to buy a complete engine with all the ancillaries ready to go .Bear in mind later engines had the coil on the inlet manifold and the early ones its behind the battery .

Dizzy is different but the 1.6 one will work. Ign amps are most likely the same, if it's the same as a 1.6 Gti one anyway; Bosch MTR01.

Right amp is the same apparently, but I've got 3 in the shed I've discovered so game on. Need to find out on Sunday whether its got its dizzy still.
I'd buy a whole job lot but its kind of throwing money away with the spares I've got plus the engine is very very cheap. May need a recurve anyway as it will be running 1600 pistons once I've rebuilt it

Thats interesting i bought an ignition amp from Euro car parts a while back and i am sure there was a difference between the 1.6 and 1.9 GTI amps but i have just checked on service box and all 205/309 1.6 or 1.9 injection engines use the same bosch module part number 5945.48 . ( did not check cat equiped cars )

Unless you are putting in a freshly built 1.9 I doubt you'll notice much difference as old engines will be down on power anyway. I'd prob just get the thing finished and use it for a while first
