oil in the coolan tank

Postby yiannosp » Tue Apr 09, 2013 6:26 am

Hey guys, greetings from cyprus. i have a facelift 1.9 309 gti. i discovered yesterday, that i had oil in the coolan tank. its not so thick, as a mayonese. any suggestions regarding the reason for that? could it be the headgasket, the oil cooler or the oil pumb? thank you very much.

hi there how much oil is there? is the water actually black? or just the odd bit of oil ?

if it's pure oil in the water it will be the oil cooler

Thanks Steve... sorry about the late reply... I fixed it and it was indeed the oil cooler... i put a new on but not the original. Its the one I had on my 1968 mini cooper s. And it works just fine. The oil temperature is actually a few degrees lower now. :)
