Postby 5-door goody » Thu Jun 30, 2016 10:26 pm

Finally getting on with my Goodwood project as its been waiting for me due to ill health I've struggled
I've been told today cos it's been stood with out drive shafts in the hubs I need to change the wheel bearings as they will be out of shape now is this true???
I think they've been changed to 306 gti ones but is there any way to check this or are they the same bearings ??

Please help thanks sam :-?

The driveshaft issue could affect the bearings as the 2 halves of the bearing are held tightly together when the hub nut is torqued up . If the car has just been standing in a garage I would have thought you would be ok , when the car is reassembled check for any play in the front wheels . Towing the car would be an issue , I made up 2 lengths of 12mm studding with large washers and nuts to hold the bearing together when I towed my 309 recently .
PS , I think 306 front hubs will give you a different geometry , the camber I believe is different .
