Dash warning!

Postby unomatt » Tue Jun 04, 2013 9:01 pm

Help! I have a '91 GTi and when I turn right the dash warning lights all come on, oil pressure disappears too! Only when turning left above 15mph, no stalling/rev drop, runs fine except for the lights! Any ideas?! Sorry if this is in the wrong section!

The first thing that comes to mind is that you have no oil in the engine and as soon as you turn it surges away from the oil pick up pipe leaving you with no oil pressure . You may have the wrong dipstick fitted which has fooled you into thinking your levels are correct .Could possibly be dodgy or perished wiring under the bonnet shorting or earthing out .
Could drain the oil then refill with the correct amount then see what the dipstick shows .

I was wondering that, oil level seems fine but it's probably due a change anyway. Will check it out and see if that cures it, cheers, Matt
