door lock removal

Postby JoeVTS » Thu Dec 18, 2014 12:10 am

any tips on how to unhook all the rods? there must be four or five and each one seems to stop the lock from twisting to remove the others.

I changed a lock a couple of years ago and remember the rods being a pain , I may of removed the exterior handle first then the interior handle - not sure though .
Some of the rods will disconnect with a quarter turn but I remember it being an awkward job .Take some digital photos to help during reassembly .
The mechanism on the black plastic external handle often tightens up so its worth oiling the pivot while you have it all apart .

removed the exterior handle and barrel, main thing was remembering that the rods have plastic clips which swivel off making removal much easier #-o whole lot off now and soaking in kerosene, once it's clean i'll oil up and refit.
