Gearknob Ph1 removal

Hi all
How the hell do I get my ph1 gearknob off.. well I say gearknob, its just the plastic, the rubber part perished cracked and fell apart about 8 months ago..Have just replaced my gearknob on the Goodwood for an original wooden one and the ph2 one was just pull off..easy..!!

Sometimes they pull off quite easily but not always , just had to remove the worn out gearknob on my Miami and it was impossible , levered it off with a 4 foot length of 4by2 in the end .
