rear wiper motor..not working

Postby owen » Tue Jan 20, 2015 11:23 am

My rear wiper motor packed in.
So I removed said item and bench tested it..
Put the tester on the wiring and was getting supply..
Tried the motor and it worked also.
So tried the wiper arm and it moves freely.

Put it back together and it didn't work.
Bought another wiper motor and tried that and you guessed it, still nothing
Although that motor works fine aswell. As dose the washer pump.

Changed the in dash switch that works rear wash n wipe ( it's a phase 1 309 )
That made not a bit of diffrence.. washer works but no wiper
There are only 2 relays in the fuse box and none of them are for the rear wiper.

So dose anyone know of another relay on the car or any reason why this don't work
Has anyone had or got this problem with there phase1

To sum it up
Got power to wires and the motor works ( both of them )
Put them together and. Nothing !!!!!
Any help please
Thanks Owen

Have you checked the connections on the gas struts?

The connections on the gas struts. Do they also operate the heated window.
If so the rear window works, perfect So iam guessing the contacts will be ok
How many wires should there be connected to the struts..

Thanks

Bit of a bump, but did you ever get this resolved Owen?

I'm working my way through the electrical a for mine too and have the same issue.

New motor fitted, old one worked fine after testing it.
Dash button seems to work and rear washer motor works fine
Haynes does say that there's a rear wiper relay and has it situated at the rear of the car in the diagrams
I've checked the gas strut connections which are all in tact after I'd repaired the lower 2 connections previously, all are in tact.

*****EDIT***** Mines now fully functional. I'd checked off everything else, but hadn't closed the boot fully
