funding the website

funding the website

Postby Moz_Goodwood_309 » Thu Jun 11, 2009 12:45 pm

not sure how much you pay to run / host the site mark but what about having a way of being able to "donate" to the sites up keep???

or maybe some of us put in some decent how to guides in the "dummies guide" section which you have to pay a nominal fee to view (nothing major maybe a fiver???)

the guides could be anything from how to service your 309 to a fully blown engine conversion and everything in between which would save the person paying alot of money let alone a fiver (i could do a mi16 conversion guide soon) :D id say to get atleast 10 different good quality (with pics) guides first before charging to view

if theres any money left over after paying for the site then maybe it could be used to fund meeting up or have a raffle for everyone whos put into it for some oil or a trackday pass or something like that

anyway just an idea as it doesnt seem fair that you have to fork out for it when everyone uses the site for sweet fa, but at the same time its not compulsory so the rest of the site is free

i'd be up for that :ymhug:

maybe for those who do donate, the username could be given a different colour?

tbh, mark has done an upstanding job getting this site together :ymapplause: and i'm very glad to be a part of this site

i would gladly pay an annual fee (even if it was for a website sticker :) ) )

and as you say paul, perhaps some of the money can be used for other things, like an annual 309gti meet up, or pay for exclusive site merchandise

I would be happy to donate towards the running of the site/club and I've mentioned it to mark before. If he is happy I guess we could do it. Although it makes more problems for mark as he would have to account for the money etc.

All it would take is 1 member to complain that they are not happy where there money is going and it could be the end of the club. Would we need to register as a business or charity? There would be loads of hurdles.

The other thing we have to watch is 309s are limited in numbers. If there where to be paid members only sections it could possibly turn away new and old members who can't afford it.

Maybe a limited edition 309ownersclub sticker could be purchased once a year by those wishing to help?

Cheers guys!

I don't want to start charging members for using the site as it goes against why I started the site up in the first place.

Donations sound good though!!

On a different note, if you are ever looking for anything for your 309 on eBay don't forget the eBay ads on the bottom of each page ;) ;) :D
