No not at all ! I always intended to use the 8v and even if it made 90 bhp I would keep it and simply keep changeing things until it got to a reasonable output !

Ill let you know what it makes when its setup again ! I do tend to agree the 8v is overshadowed by the 16v these days wich is a shame because they have great charicteristics on the road and a lot cheaper to rebuild and easyer to work on.

I do think your TL figure is a bit high for a FWD box - working from fly figure deduct 10 hp then multiply by 0.9 ie; 100 hp engine would see 81 on the road , likewise 200 hp through the front wheels would be 171 BHP - obviously the same applys from the wheels just add 10 and divide by 0.9 to give a flywheel figure. your method is about right for a RWD setup.

probably because i used to specialise in old rear wheel drive cars lol

nah i think the 8v are such a good engine, you just need to be willing to spend the money on them to make them put out power for n/a tuned engines and it seems people would rather just drop in a 16v lump and be done with it hopefully at the end of the summer i'll be starting work on the 205 again, once thats done im hoping for just over 200bhp at the fly on an 8v engine will have shit loads spent on it, my throttle body kit has been orderd allready just waiting for it to turn up, but the car needs a full rebuild so wont be for a while, should be good when done though

I love the way an 8v has such a good torque amount!!! Had i of kept my original 8v out of the 309, i would have loved to push it to the max!!! But cos i needed cash at the time (long time ago!! lol) i sold it and ended up with an MI oil surger!!! lol

Does anyone know if tricky is still active on this forum? I now own the car that this thread is about & would like to have a chat with him about it. Thanks
