Used a spare sump to get the size of the cradle correct , the oil temperature sensor will need to be left off while it sits in it though .Should make it safer to store the engine so it does not keep trying to topple over and no damage to the sump either .Have made it so the flywheel can be fitted and will overhang that end .

This 1905cc engine is now back together , torqued the headbolts down today and one of them started to strip its thread in the block so I had to take it all apart again and fit a helicoil in that hole .Put it all together again and no problems tightening all the head bolts up this time . Refitted the upper engine mount , the exhaust manifold and various other parts with new or replated bolts and washers .
Will be storing this engine in the wooden cradle until I am ready to fit it .

Thanks , nothing much happening on this 309 at the moment as I am putting all my efforts into building the 309 Turbo Cup car but it will finished one day , its so solid it doesn't need loads of body work .
I did get a small bit of welding done a week or two ago and I need to refix the bonnet prop but after that it just needs preparing for the respray .

I have managed to get a set of new Koni adjustable front and rear shocks with lowered front springs from a guy on 205 gti drivers , fitted them to the refurbed front hubs today . Will be fitting the springs and top mounts once I have had some of the bits replated . Have got quite a few new bits piled up now waiting for when I start work on this car , some Ebay prices are very cheap - £25 for an AP clutch and front discs for £15 .

I had given the gearbox a quick spray some time ago so it would not corrode while in storage , but while I was painting the BE3 box for my replica project I have cleaned this one up again and painted it properly this time . 3 coats of Simoniz engine enamel inside the bellhousing and outside and its looking really tidy , have had a load more plating done including clutch arms for both the gearboxes so they are both up to show standard now .
Now stored away under a dustsheet till its needed .
